Last month, Reps. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), Greg Murphy (R-NC), Bill Pascrell (D-NJ), and Joe Morelle (D-NY) sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, Department of the Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor Julie Su, urging the Administration to take action to ensure that the No Surprises Act is implemented properly and that additional administrative burdens and barriers to patient access are addressed.

On March 6th and 7th, several NAFEC members traveled to Washington, D.C. to highlight policy priorities related freestanding emergency centers and specialty emergency hospitals. The group met with congressional leaders to discuss the flawed implementation of the No Surprises Act and how declining reimbursement threatens access to emergency care.

NAFEC is excited to announce that Rep Raul Ruiz (D-CA) has signed on as co-sponsor of H.R. 1694, the Emergency Care Improvement Act, a bill that will allow FECs the ability to gain ongoing Medicare certification.

On March 18th, NAFEC President and CEO of Complete Care, Rob Morris, was invited by the House Ways & Means Committee to testify at their field hearing in Denton, Texas on “Access to Health Care in America: Ensuring Resilient Emergency Medical Care.”
